Church of the Good Shepherd Bike Tour Benefits Family Promise

For the second year in a row, Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist (CGS) conducted a successful Bike Tour event. All proceeds from the May 21 event benefit Family Promise SGV, allowing us to continue to serve homeless children and their families with compassion and hospitality.

Twenty-eight riders participated, including riders from Church of the Good Shepherd, First Baptist Church Alhambra, Friendship Pasadena, and Sierra Madre United Methodist Church. All four of these churches also function as host congregations for Family Promise families.

The Bike Tour event allowed riders of all ages and skill levels to participate. There are several “legs” to the ride, allowing riders to ride from 8 miles to 63 miles depending on their skill and energy level. A delicious lunch was served by CGS for riders and support team members.

It’s anticipated that the event will raise between $10,000 and $12,000 to help Family Promise provide for homeless children and their families in the San Gabriel Valley area. So far we’ve received over $7,000 and donations are still coming in.

It’s not too late to support your riders! Please visit the FPSGV giving page, select Church of the Good Shepherd Bike Tour in the dropdown menu, and type in your rider’s name under Additional Information.

Thank you to all who made this event possible. You are what makes Family Promise so special!
